Police are searching four men in connection to three violent cellphone robberies overnight Wednesday into the early morning along the D train route.
Police say, the first incident happened at 2 a.m. Wednesday when a 27-year-old man was on a northbound D train approaching the 182nd Street and Grand Concourse Station. A group of four men went up to him and snatched his phone right out of his hands. When he tried to get his phone back, one of the group members took out a gun and pointed it at him.
About 20 minutes later, a 16-year-old girl was standing on a southbound D train platform at the Tremont Ave. Station when the same four men approached her. One of them took out a knife and demanded her things, while another group member pointed a gun at her. The man who had the knife took the cellphone from her hand and they ran off.
Then just after 5 a.m. they struck one more time in the area of East 174th St. and Walton Avenue not too far from the 174th St. Station where you can also catch the D train. This time the robbery got even more bold, and they attacked a 20-year-old man. Cops say they punched him several times before taking his cellphone out of his hands. He went to take back his cellphone and one of the men from the group took out a gun.
Police are asking if anyone has any information to call the Crime Stoppers hotline.
