Two men believed to be responsible for six robberies, two shootings and one murder in Essex County have been arrested.
The two Newark natives, Raymond Perry, 43, and David Fate, 24, began their alleged three-week crime wave with the armed robbery of the Jefferson Laundromat in Montclair.
Police say the pair committed crimes in Bloomfield, Newark and East Orange before allegedly killing 29-year-old Daniel Pritchard, the station attendant at a Verona Sunoco. Authorities say good police work and a tip from the public finally broke the case.
Perry was arrested Feb. 25 and will be arraigned Wednesday at the Essex County Courthouse. According to Essex County Prosecutor Paula Dow, Perry has nine felony convictions including a murder in 1982, for which he served a substantial prison sentence.
Fate, who also has a criminal record, was arrested in South Carolina Tuesday and is awaiting extradition to New Jersey. He will also be arraigned Wednesday. Bail for each man is set at $1 million.
