The 25th annual Seaside Polar Plunge is being held today.
Nearly 7,000 people took part in last year's event with organizers raising close to $2 million.
Money raised provides Special Olympics New Jersey with year-round sports training, competition and leadership opportunities and health screenings to more than 25,000 athletes.
This year, plungers will see a new jumbo-size beach entrance, which will make it faster to get on and off the beach.
Check in began at 9 a.m. and the plunge starts at 1 p.m.
