State Police identify 26-year-old killed in unusual Route 80 crash in Morris County

A 26-year-old Morris County man died early Friday morning after being struck by his own vehicle following a crash on Route 80, according to New Jersey State Police.
Authorities said Daniel Valencia, of Wharton, was driving along Route 80 in Parsippany-Troy Hills around 5:30 a.m. Friday when he lost control of his car and crashed into a tree off the roadway.
While Valencia managed to exit the vehicle after the impact, the car subsequently rolled backward into the woods and struck him.
Valencia died from his injuries at the scene.
State Police have not disclosed what caused Valencia to lose control of the vehicle. The crash remains under investigation.
