A 19-year-old Camden man was struck and killed by an off-duty police officer’s vehicle early Tuesday morning.
Camden County Police officers responded to a report of a pedestrian struck near the intersection of westbound Admiral Wilson Boulevard and 16th Street at about 12:51 a.m. Sept. 1.
Upon arrival, responding officers identified the driver of the involved vehicle as an off-duty officer with the Camden County Police Department. Authorities said the pedestrian had entered the roadway before being hit.
The pedestrian, identified as 19-year-old Angel Saravia-Estrada of Camden, was taken to Cooper University Hospital, where he was pronounced dead at approximately 1:17 a.m.
The off-duty officer remained at the scene. An on-duty officer with the Delaware River Port Authority Police Department also pulled over to render emergency aid.
