A 5-year-old boy fell from an apartment window in Fordham Heights on Sunday evening, according to the FDNY and NYPD.

News 12 was first on scene and obtained video that shows two police officers tending to the boy on the sidewalk before paramedics arrived. It happened around 5:30 p.m. near Buchanan Place and Grant Avenue.

EMS rushed the boy to New York Presbyterian, where police say he is expected to recover.

Neighbors told News 12 the child may have special needs and that he fell from a fourth-floor apartment window. Police confirmed that the fall happened from the fourth floor of the building.

"He was bleeding from the mouth and the nose. He was on the head. It was a little bit of blood coming from his head," one witness said.

Police say no arrests had been made as of Sunday night.

It was not immediately clear what led the child to fall out the window.
