It's the second Sunday of August, and in a Colonia backyard, a family tradition is in full swing despite the 90-degree heat.
With 36 bushels of tomatoes, five pots of boiling water, a few drips of sweat and plenty of helping hands, family and friends have gathered to make Sunday sauce.
Every second Sunday for the past five years has been "Sauce Day" for Lisajoy Marinello and a dozen of her relatives and friends.
Where, as the name implies, they come together to make sauce, and a lot of it. Their goal this year: to fill 500 jars.
