NJ attorney general sues Amazon over delivery driver practices

New Jersey Attorney General Jennifer Davenport is taking Amazon to court, accusing the company of using its control over its Delivery Service Partner (DSP) network to keep wages low, discourage unionization and stop delivery companies from hiring each other’s drivers.
The lawsuit says those practices violate federal and state antitrust laws. New Jersey is seeking damages for affected drivers and wants a court to order Amazon to stop the alleged conduct.
The Attorney General’s Office says it’s the first state to file a monopsony lawsuit against a company. The state also has several other lawsuits against Amazon involving competition, workplace discrimination and the classification of delivery drivers.
