Pleasantville 18-year-old arrested and charged with attempted murder in July shooting

An 18-year-old from Pleasantville was arrested and charged with attempted murder in connection with a daytime shooting last month, authorities announced.

Tyree Kay was taken into custody Aug. 3, by the Atlantic County Sheriff's Department.

The arrest stems from a shooting reported at around 11:30 a.m. on July 21. Pleasantville police officers responded to the area of Linden and Merion avenues, where they located a victim suffering from gunshot wounds to the chest and left arm.

The victim was rushed to AtlantiCare Regional Medical Center for treatment.

Authorities identified Kay as the suspect.

Kay is charged with attempted murder, possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose and unlawful possession of a handgun.

He is currently being held at the Atlantic County Justice Facility pending a detention hearing.
