Bordentown man arrested after targeted robbery at Secaucus motel

A 39-year-old Burlington County man was arrested early Tuesday morning in connection with a targeted robbery inside a Secaucus motel room.
Secaucus police responded to the Red Roof Inn at 15 Meadowlands Parkway around 5:32 a.m. on June 6 after a report of a robbery. When officers arrived, the female victim told them a man forced his way into her room, assaulted her and fled with cash and jewelry.
Investigators later determined the robbery was not random and that the victim had been specifically targeted. Detectives identified the suspect as Freddie R. Mendenhall Jr., 39, of Bordentown.
In the early morning hours of July 23, Secaucus police were conducting surveillance outside Mendenhall’s residence in Bordentown when they took him into custody as soon as he arrived.
Mendenhall has been charged with robbery and prostitution. He was processed and lodged in the Hudson County Jail.
