A Franklin Township woman was struck and killed while crossing Hamilton Street on Wednesday night, according to the Somerset County Prosecutor's Office.

Police responded around 8:35 p.m. to the area of Hamilton Street near Francis Street for a report of a crash involving a pedestrian. Officers determined the woman was crossing the road when she was hit by a Toyota Corolla.

The driver of the Toyota was not injured, authorities said. The pedestrian, who was identified only as a female Franklin Township resident, was pronounced dead at the scene.

The Somerset County Collision Analysis Reconstruction Team is among several agencies investigating.
