A 59-year-old man has died after drowning at Dallenbach Lake, prompting an extensive search and rescue operation by local and state emergency crews on Wednesday.

East Brunswick police received a report at about 3:34 p.m. Wednesday of a man who had gone underwater while swimming at the lake, located at 380 Dunham Corner Road, and failed to resurface.

First responders immediately launched a large-scale search and rescue operation. Due to the urgency of the situation, numerous local and state agencies rushed to the scene to assist.

Following an extensive search of the lake, divers with the Perth Amboy Fire Department located the swimmer and pulled him from the water. Paramedics immediately initiated lifesaving measures and rushed the man to a local hospital, where he was later pronounced dead.

Authorities are withholding the victim’s identity, and no further identifying details have been released at this time.

Officials said there is currently no indication of foul play.
