Two Newark men have been charged in connection with a pair of attempted home invasions in Secaucus that police say were aimed at stealing luxury vehicles parked outside residences.

Police said 18-year-olds Zameer Suggs and Znajay Nelson were charged July 6 following an investigation into two attempted residential burglaries in December 2025.

According to police, two masked men attempted to break into an Arn Terrace home around 4:10 a.m. on Dec. 12 to steal the resident’s BMW parked in the driveway. The suspects arrived in a Hyundai reported stolen from Irvington but fled after the home’s security system was activated.

Five days later, police said three men arrived at an Allan Terrace home in a BMW X3 reported stolen from South Orange. Two of the suspects allegedly tried to pry open a window but were unsuccessful before leaving the scene.

Police said detectives previously identified and charged Hakim White, 18, of Newark, in January in connection with the Allan Terrace incident. In May, detectives from the Maplewood Police Department provided information that investigators said helped link Suggs and Nelson to the cases.

Suggs and Nelson are each charged in connection with the Allan Terrace attempted burglary with attempted residential burglary, attempted motor vehicle theft, receiving a stolen motor vehicle, participating in an auto theft trafficking network, conspiracy to commit residential burglary and criminal mischief. Nelson also faces similar charges related to the Arn Terrace incident, except for the criminal mischief charge.
