A Jersey City man wanted in connection with a fatal shooting last month has been arrested in North Carolina, authorities said.

Raheem Rhett, 36, was arrested Monday in Raleigh by members of the U.S. Marshals. He is being held at the Wake County Detention Center pending extradition to New Jersey, according to the Hudson County Prosecutor’s Office.

The charges stem from a shooting that occurred at about 2:30 a.m. June 28 on Orient Avenue near Martin Luther King Jr. Drive in Jersey City.

During the investigation, officers also found a 45-year-old Jersey City man on Jackson Square with an apparent gunshot wound.

Rhett is charged with murder, three counts of attempted murder, aggravated assault, two counts of unlawful possession of a firearm, possession of a firearm for an unlawful purpose and certain persons not to possess a firearm.
