The East Ramapo Central School District has officially appointed Leslie Torres-Rodriguez as its new superintendent, ending a search that began after the district was left without a permanent leader in 2024.

The Board of Education unanimously approved Torres-Rodriguez’s appointment during its meeting Tuesday night. Her three-year contract takes effect July 8 and runs through July 2029.

Torres-Rodriguez previously served for eight years as superintendent of Hartford Public Schools, where she focused on collaborative transformation and expanding opportunities for students.

Speaking after her appointment, Torres-Rodriguez said she is eager to begin meeting with students, families and staff to better understand the district’s needs and priorities.

“I am honored and I am looking forward to meeting the community and truly co-creating what it is that we need to work forward so that we can improve outcomes for all students,” she said.

The district hired Southern Westchester BOCES to conduct the superintendent search.
