An Atlantic City man faces a five-year prison sentence after pleading guilty to a violent 2025 armed robbery in which he held a gun to a taxi driver’s head and shot through the vehicle’s windshield.
Davidson Dominique, 25, pleaded guilty Thursday to second-degree robbery and second-degree possession of a firearm for an unlawful purpose before a New Jersey Superior Court judge.
The charges stem from an incident on April 28, 2025, when an Atlantic City police officer was flagged down by a local taxi driver who reported being robbed and shot at near Route 30 and New Jersey Avenue.
Investigators learned that the victim had picked up Dominique at the Ocean Casino for a standard taxi fare. Once the driver reached the requested drop-off location, Dominique pulled out a handgun, pointed it at the back of the driver’s head and demanded cash.
The victim handed over $100 and his cellphone, prompting Dominique to get out of the car and run. When the driver attempted to follow Dominique in the taxi, Dominique turned and fired a single shot through the vehicle’s windshield, striking the passenger side.
Under the terms of the plea agreement, prosecutors are recommending a five-year sentence in New Jersey State Prison.
Dominique is scheduled to face formal sentencing on Aug. 18.
