A bomb threat targeting FIFA that prompted an increased police presence at the Meadowlands Sports Complex on Sunday has resulted in two arrests, according to the New Jersey State Police.
Authorities say that around 4:15 p.m. on July 5, New Jersey State Police were notified of a text message bomb threat targeting FIFA.
State police, along with local, county and federal law enforcement agencies, immediately increased security throughout the Meadowlands Sports Complex out of an abundance of caution to protect attendees, participants and staff.
Investigators identified the owner of the phone number used to send the threat and determined the associated vehicle was at the sports complex when the message was sent. The vehicle was entered into the National Crime Information Center database, and the Jersey City Police Department later located and stopped it on Bergen Avenue.
Police say consent was granted to search both the vehicle and the residence of Amar Ramkisson for explosive devices. No explosives were found.
Following the investigation, Breanna Rampersad was charged with hindering and tampering with evidence.
Ramkisson was charged with terroristic threats and false public alarm.
