Kearny man dies after rollover crash on Route 138 ramp in Wall Township
Despite medical efforts at the hospital, the driver died from his injuries, police said.

A 23-year-old Kearny man died after a single-vehicle rollover crash early Wednesday on the ramp connecting Route 138 East to Route 35 North, according to Wall Township police.
Police said officers, firefighters and EMS crews responded to the scene at 1:47 a.m. after receiving multiple 911 calls reporting a serious crash on the ramp.
Responders found a black 2019 Chevrolet Trax overturned deep in a wooded area along an embankment. A preliminary investigation found the vehicle was traveling eastbound on Route 138 when it left the roadway to the right, striking a guardrail, traffic signage and a light pole before overturning into the woods.
The driver, who officials say was the only one inside the vehicle, was pulled from the wreckage and found unresponsive but breathing. He was treated at the scene and transported to Jersey Shore University Medical Center.
Despite medical efforts at the hospital, the driver died from his injuries, police said. His identity has not been released pending privacy considerations for the family, which has been notified.
