For many people, coffee is part of a daily routine — but a local café is showing customers there’s a lot more behind each cup.
At Muse Coffee Company in Lyndhurst, customers aren’t just stopping in for a drink — they’re learning how to make it themselves.
“People are enchanted by coffee… it’s a ritual,” said co-owner Marcus Duarte.
The café offers hands-on espresso classes, where participants step behind the counter to learn the process from start to finish.
Co-owner Abe Awad says the classes are designed for everyone.
“Whether there are beginners… or somebody that just bought their own espresso machine at home,” Awad said.
Students learn everything from grinding beans to pulling the perfect espresso shot.
“It’s a lot of pressure and heat… getting the most refined drink out of different beans,” said instructor Finn Lozada.
The class also covers techniques like tamping, steaming milk and even creating latte art.
Owners say the hands-on experience helps people better understand and appreciate their daily coffee.
“They’re stepping into the cockpit… discovering the coffee crafting process,” Duarte said.
By the end of the class, even casual coffee drinkers walk away with a new perspective on their morning ritual.
