An upper-level storm will be drifting towards the state and lingering over the next few days. As a result, the weather is looking quite unsettled, especially for tomorrow.
Severe storms will be developing throughout the day Tuesday. Showers and thunderstorms will be the main headline on the weather marquee. Hit-and-miss rains will be cropping up just before daybreak. The main event looks to occur from 1 p.m. through 9 p.m. Slow-moving thunderstorms will drench the region with 1 to as much as 3 inches of rain.
This type of intense rain will lead to the opportunity for water to overcome drainage catch basins and sewers. Water will then quickly fill up streets more prone to flooding. Please protect your investment. If you come across a stretch of road that is covered in water, find an alternate way to get where you are going.
Severe storms will contain damaging winds in excess of 60 mph. It looks more like water-loaded downbursts will be the primary culprit of wind damage tomorrow. The chance for a tornado to develop is small, but it is not zero. The atmosphere is more primed for flooding rains than rotation, but we will have to babysit the radars throughout the day tomorrow.
This upper-level storm will slowly drift over the northeast. As it slows down, it will continue to push spokes of stormy weather in our direction for both Wednesday and Thursday. Both of those days will not be as stormy as Tuesday. In fact, there will be moments of sun. The middle of the week isn't going to be a washout. Do not cancel plans, but you will have to plan around the possibility of stormy weather.
