It's been over a week since a Paterson water main break impacted the lives of surrounding communities.

In Haledon, a bar and grill found a way to stay open during the water disruption.

The streets were a little quieter on Friday evening in Haledon, which is now well into Day 8 without normal access to water.

The water main break has been impacting Passaic County since the morning of Friday, Aug. 8.

"When I first heard the problem, I'm like 'This is going to take a while,'" said Peter Tyleutki, the manager of Jimmy Geez Sports Bar & Grill. "They're not going to fix that quickly."

Through all of this, Tyleutki's employer found a way to stay open but with a little twist - using water-saving techniques.

"Using plastic and cutting back on the glassware and stuff like that," said Tyleutki.

The business' potable water system is offering a sense of normalcy - a 1,000-gallon tank being fed into their water system.

"So we can...flush toilets. We can... do what we need to do in here to keep the doors open," said Tyleutki.

Their average use is 400 to 500 gallons a day, depending on foot traffic.

"It's a private company," said Tyleutki. "We rented the tanker from them. They come every day, and they measure the water and fill up as needed."

It looks like that partnership will be around a little longer.

A water emergency still exists for the Borough of Haledon, with a water use restriction and boil water advisory in effect for those with water access.

A letter was also sent to Gov. Phil Murphy asking the administration to consider small business assistance, emergency financial relief and more.
