Paterson man dies after being shot in chest

A 27-year-old Paterson man died after being shot in the chest Wednesday afternoon, according to the Passaic County Prosecutor's Office.
Paterson police were dispatched to the area of Butler and Sparrow streets around 5 p.m. following a report of a shooting.
While officers were responding, they learned that the victim had been taken to Saint Joseph's University Medical Center in a private vehicle.
The man was pronounced dead at the hospital. Authorities did not identify the victim in Thursday's announcement.
The shooting remains under investigation.
