Tanker train carrying 28,000 gallons of ethanol derails in Linden; no injuries, no spill
It happened around 6:45 a.m. just off Tremley Point Road in Linden near the New Jersey Turnpike.

Eight Contrail tanker train cars derailed Thursday morning in Linden. Two of those cars fell onto their sides and were carrying 28,000 gallons of ethanol.
Officials say that no one was hurt, and the ethanol did not spill or leak. It happened around 6:45 a.m. just off Tremley Point Road near the New Jersey Turnpike.
Officials have brought in several cranes from out of state to help get the cars back on the rail. They say it is a process that could last into Friday.
Police say the cars were part of a 96-car train that was delivering ethanol to an energy company.
It was not clear how the derailment happened.
The Union County HAZMAT team is on the scene as a precaution. The derailment did not impact passenger train or road traffic.
After the derailment is cleaned up, crews will need to determine if there was any damage to the tracks.
