Police in Nutley warned residents of potential scammers who are offering home improvements.

They say they questioned a group of men who were soliciting home improvement work around Spruce Street. Apparently, the men were promising to sealcoat driveways, power wash and fix roofs and fences, but were asking for payment up front for a future work date.

Police advised residents to request to see insurance, licensing and identification before they sign any contract or provide any payments.

They also urged the public to alert them if something seems suspicious.
