Authorities say an early morning collision involving a police cruiser left two Jersey City officers injured.
The crash on Routes 1 and 9 near Duncan Avenue was reported around 1:30 a.m. Wednesday.
The officers apparently were attempting to stop a car whose driver refused to pull over when another vehicle collided with the cruiser. The impact sent the cruiser onto the median.
Both officers suffered undisclosed injuries and were taken to a hospital. One was treated and released, but the other remained hospitalized Wednesday afternoon in stable condition. Their names have not been released.
The driver of the vehicle that collided with the cruiser declined medical treatment at the scene.
A spokesperson for the Jersey City Police Department says that the vehicle the officers were pursuing fled the scene.
