Two people were injured in an early morning fire in Lyndhurst.
A fire official says an off-duty officer smelled smoke in the area of 518 Willow Ave. at around 4 a.m.
Two people inside the house climbed onto the roof and fire crews used a ladder to rescue them.
Both people were taken to the hospital and are in stable condition.
Fire officials say there were no smoke alarms in the home. They say the fire severely damaged the basement and first floor of the house.
The cause is under investigation.
