Two bus company employees face child endangerment charges for allegedly leaving a 6-year-old boy with autism on a bus for more than seven hours.
Luis Gonzalez, 67, and Maria Vasquez, 53, were charged Thursday.
Middlesex County Prosecutor Andrew Carey says the incident happened on Oct. 22. Gonzalez was driving and Vasquez was a bus aide when the child was picked up to be taken to a school in Edison.
The child allegedly wasn't escorted off the bus, but remained on board when it returned to a bus yard in Bridgewater.
Another driver discovered the child and the boy was returned to his school at about 4 p.m.
Both employees surrendered to police and were released pending an initial court hearing.
