(AP) - A former Atlantic City mayoral candidateand 13 campaign workers have been indicted in a vote fraud scheme.
New Jersey Attorney General Anne Milgram announced theindictments Thursday against City Councilman Marty Small and theothers.
They are accused of conspiring to submit fraudulent absenteeballots.
Small was trounced in the city's June Democratic primary byincumbent Mayor Lorenzo Langford.
The charges involve use of messenger ballots, a type of absenteeballot designed for those too sick or frail to make it to thepolls. Designated messengers pick up the ballots at county electionoffices, take them to voters and return them to election officialsonce completed.
A telephone message left for Small was not immediately returnedThursday.
