Essex County authorities are offering a $10,000 reward for information leading to an arrest and conviction in the fatal shooting of a Maplewood high school student.
The shooting happened June 6 around 9:30 p.m. at the Underhill Sports Complex, an athletic field for Columbia High School.
According to authorities, responding police officers found 18-year-old Moussa Fofana, who had been shot at least once, and a 17-year-old boy whose name was not released.
Authorities say Fofana was pronounced dead at the scene a short time later, while the wounded teen was treated at a hospital for injuries that were not considered life-threatening.
Fofana was in 11th grade. His family says that he loved soccer and looked out for his little brother. He came to the United States from Liberia when he was 10 years old.
