A house fire left one person dead and three others hurt early Friday morning in West Orange, according to authorities.

The flames broke out just before 5 a.m. on Westwood Drive.

Officials say there appeared to be a hoarding situation inside the home, which made search efforts more difficult.

Three residents, including the victim’s mother and sister were hospitalized for smoke inhalation.

One of the residents was pronounced dead at the hospital.

The cause of the blaze remains under investigation.
