For a 17th straight year, the “Undead” will appear in Asbury Park on Saturday and take over the boardwalk as part of the annual Zombie Walk.
The atmosphere on the boardwalk was quiet, and the temperature was warm on Friday.
That will change on Saturday, as thousands of people dressed as zombies meet at Convention Hall before parading down the boardwalk, Cookman Avenue, and eventually Main Street.
Right across the street from City Hall on Main Street, News 12 found the head chef at Tic Taco Taqueria prepping for the crowd of zombies set to arrive on Saturday.
Gerardo Lopez ordered plenty of extra beef for hungry zombies.
“We do expect a lot of people, like we already ordered 500 pounds of meat to get ready for the whole weekend, too. This is the first time I will be watching this experience, and I’m so excited to be honest,” said Lopez.
The parade of zombies starts at 4 p.m. and will finish in front of Johnny Mac, a popular bar in Asbury Park.
Awards for the best costume will be handed out.
