A youth group in Woodbridge that was looking forward to an awards dinner is now out of money and without a place to hold its event.
The Roselle Pop Warner League was going to hold its dinner at the Cameo, a catering hall in Woodbridge. The league?s members say they paid the hall?s owners a $500 deposit to hold the date. However, the township shut Cameo down recently over accusations the hall was becoming a nuisance. Police were called to the catering hall for fights and a stabbing last month.
The league says the owners haven?t returned its deposit. Other customers looking to hold events at Cameo add they haven?t received their money back either. News 12 New Jersey was unable to reach the owners for comment.
Meanwhile, the new owner, who took over after Cameo was shut down, says she will reopen the catering hall under a new name in May.
