A woman was rescued from a house fire in Hawthorne Wednesday.

First responders forced their way into the home by breaking into a window. They say the woman was found unresponsive and taken to the hospital.

Fire Chief Joe Speranza says getting the victim to safety was a priority.

Fire officials are working to determine what caused the fire in the basement.
