A New Milford woman died after a tree came down on top of her while she was standing in her own driveway.
Michelle Mian, 21, was found at around 7:40 a.m. buried under the large tree limb. Pieces of the large maple tree were strewn about.
"Apparently it was raining very heavy last night, with very heavy winds which may have attributed to the tree weakening and falling this morning," says New Milford Police Chief Frank Ramaci.
Mian was a student at Bergen Community College and was said to be interning at Holy Name Hospital. Her friends were shocked by her sudden death.
"It's really hard to think about someone who's been in your life their entire life, every day, and now she's not here," says friend Mahtab Kahn.
New Milford police say this was the only reported weather-related call they received.
