A woman was hit and killed by a car while crossing a street Wednesday night in Hamilton, according to police.

Authorities say Debbie Rice, of Pittsgrove, was driving on Route 322 when she struck Deserie Cincotti around 7:30 p.m.

Cincotti died at the scene, while Rice was unharmed.

The route was closed for several hours during the initial investigation.

The area had no designated crosswalks, according to police.
