Woman designs jewelry to raise money for Pittsburgh Jewish community
A woman is using her passion for design to raise money for Pittsburgh's Jewish community in the wake of last year's synagogue shooting.
Maxine Schwartz says that back in October, she was celebrating her son's bar mitzvah in Westfield when a gunman walked into the Tree of Life synagogue in Pittsburgh and killed 11 people.
She says she decided to make and sell tree of life necklaces as a tribute because she wanted to help. Schwartz also donated necklaces to family members who lost loved ones in the shooting.
She has raised over $30,000 so far. All proceeds from the necklaces will go to the Jewish Federation of Pittsburgh.
