A woman who considers herself a Good Samaritan is accusing a Roselle Park police officer of a wrongful arrest and police brutality.
In a video taken on June 20, Monica Montoya can be seen helping out and translating for Roselle Park Police Officer Harold Breuninger. Montoya said they were helping a woman who was hit by a bus. Several minutes later, Montoya can be heard off camera pleading for the officer to let her go. Montoya claims she was arrested because she failed to give Breuninger her name.
In a statement, the Roselle Park mayor said, ?I believe it is absolutely essential that a thorough and complete investigation is conducted in this matter.?
The Union County Prosecutor?s Office is conducting an investigation into the incident. Meanwhile, Montoya?s attorney is asking the Roselle Park Police Department to drop charges of hindering an investigation and resisting arrest. Montoya says she is also seeking a public apology from the department.
