Pop star Whitney Houston's funeral service will be held at the New Hope Baptist Church in Newark where she first showcased her singing talents as a child.
The owner of the Whigham Funeral Home in Newark says Houston's funeral will be held at noon. The funeral home says no wake will be held and that there will be no public memorial at the Prudential Center, the sports arena that the family had discussed as a possible venue.
Houston was born in Newark and grew up in East Orange. The 48-year-old was found dead in her hotel room in Beverly Hills on Feb. 11.
Her body arrived in New Jersey last night at Teterboro Airport.
