Experts have finished evaluating a whale that washed up in Seaside Park.
The results of last week's necropsy have been released by the Marine Mammal Stranding Center to determine the cause of death of a humpback whale discovered March 1.
"Teams were able to determine that she was a female, in good body condition, and document several internal and external injuries," the center wrote on social media.
Among the injuries: bruising on the head, sharp-force trauma consistent with propeller wounds, and evidence of previous entanglement scars.
Anyone who comes across a sick, injured, or deceased marine mammal (and sea turtles) in New Jersey is asked to call the Marine Mammal Stranding Center Hotline at 609-266-0538.
