Westfield High School senior Brandon Genlot was killed in a car crash on Tuesday, according to officials.

Union County police say officers responded to a one-vehicle accident in Watchung Reservation, Scotch Plains, finding the vehicle and surrounding area engulfed in flames.

According to authorities, the vehicle struck a tree and ignited.

Westfield High School administrators are coordinating with the Traumatic Loss Coalition for Youth and counselors to provide support.

Extra counseling services are available for students and staff.
