The Gloucester County prosecutor announced that a West Deptford man was charged with attempted murder following a stabbing that injured an adult woman.
Randall Bilger, 61, was arrested Friday and charged with attempted murder and unlawful possession of a weapon, according to court documents.
Police responded after a witness called 911 to report Bilger was bloody and holding a knife. The witness said they went to the residence to check on the victim and found the front door locked, officials said.
Bilger was said to have answered the back door covered in blood and holding a knife, and told them, “It’s not a good time.”
When officers arrived, Bilger initially ignored commands to exit the home, authorities said.
Police entered the residence, arrested Bilger and found the victim with multiple stab wounds.
The victim told police Bilger stabbed them in the shoulder earlier and again in the abdomen shortly before the witness arrived.
The victim was taken to a hospital for treatment.
If convicted, Bilger faces up to 20 years in prison on the attempted murder charge and up to five years on the weapons charge.
