Marine specialists hope the use of electric noise vibrations will aid them in guiding a wayward pod of bottlenose dolphins out of the Shrewsbury River and into Sandy Hook Bay.

The lost sea mammals were first spotted in the river on Father's Day. It is believed construction on the Highlands Bridge is sending frightening noise vibrations into the water and scaring the sea mammals from crossing into the bay.

Specialists from Brigantine are monitoring the situation. They say the dolphins are beginning to show early signs of agitation.

The pod includes about 15 to 20 dolphins, including at least two calves. State police and the coast guard are watching the animals to prevent humans or boats from harming them.
