Wayne Township Mayor Christopher Vergano has stepped in and said the ceremonies will be held in the municipal parking lot.
Gov. Phil Murphy announced Tuesday that New Jersey high schools could have as many as 500 people at outdoor graduation ceremonies beginning July 6.
Mayor Vergano says that was just too late for people in Wayne, so the township will host the ceremonies next week.
Chairs will also be six feet apart, cleaned before and after. Programs will be electronic and students must wear masks. Family groups will be able to sit together though. Bathrooms will not be available.
Parents will be limited to two guests per graduate.
