A water main break temporarily disrupted service in parts of Hoboken on Wednesday.
The break was on Washington Street between First and Second streets. Service was temporarily disrupted to businesses and homes in the area.
Veolia crews completed repairs around 3:30 p.m. and service was restored.
Officials say that Washington Street is open to traffic.
While the cause of the water main break was not immediately released, officials say that parts of Hoboken’s water system are more than 100 years old and that “the majority of the system is nearing the end of its useful life.”
The city has been replacing water mains since 2019. Officials say they plan to replace a total of 29,000 linear feet of water lines by the end of the year.
