Thursday might have been a great day for swimming, but one Paterson family was left high and dry after its pool was stolen.
Edgar Valdivia said his wife woke him up and told him their waist-high, inflatable pool was stolen from their backyard. Valdivia said he and his family moved to McBride Avenue five weeks ago and had just recently bought the pool.
Valdivia said the ground surrounding the pool area was dry, so he doesn't know how someone could have taken the pool while it was filled with water. Pool expert Larry McVay said someone could have used a quiet pump to drain the pool without waking the Valdivia family.
Valdivia said he will most likely replace the pool, which cost about $200. Meanwhile, he plans on putting up a fence around his new pool. He has also chained down his grill and other patio items.
