A Watchung man has been convicted for a second time in the 2015 killing of his teacher girlfriend. Andre Higgs on Tuesday was found guilty of murdering Latrena May outside her home in East Orange more than 10 years ago.

Higgs shot May, 27, who flagged down a police car that was able to intervene. After an exchange of gunfire with police Higgs barricaded himself inside his home with their then 4-year-old daughter, who was unharmed. Higgs was serving a life sentence when his 2017 conviction was overturned and a retrial ordered.
