WATCH: Officers, good Samaritans rescue several children from ocean at Jersey Shore beach

The Atlantic City Police Department is reminding all beachgoers that its unsafe to swim while beach patrol lifeguards are not on duty after several children needed to be saved from the ocean in separate incidents in recent days.

The Atlantic City Police Department is reminding all beachgoers that its unsafe to swim while beach patrol lifeguards are not on duty after several children needed to be saved from the ocean in separate incidents in recent days.
The first incident happened May 15 around 5 p.m. Officers responded to the Dr. Martin Luther King Boulevard beach for reports of several young juveniles in the ocean in distress. As officers arrived, all of the children had been rescued from the water. A good Samaritan entered the ocean and rescued a 4-year-old female. 
The second incident happened May 18 around 11:30 a.m. Officers responded to the Virginia Avenue beach for a report of three juveniles in the water.  A good Samaritan went in the water to assist the three siblings.
Dangerous rip currents can be powerful and can affect even the most experienced swimmer. 
The Atlantic City Beach Patrol will begin patrolling beaches Saturday, May 29 between 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.
