There is some pretty incredible video out of Newark that shows two New Jersey Transit Police officers saving the life of a newborn girl by performing CPR and racing to the hospital.

Her mother had just given birth Tuesday around 10 a.m. in a restroom at Newark Penn Station. When officers responded, the baby was not breathing, and was gray.
Officer Bryan Richards took the girl and started performing CPR on a sink. He called for an ambulance, and seconds later, realizing how dire the situation was, he took off with the baby -- moving quickly through the station to get her to the hospital.
“There was a woman in the bathroom stall,” says Richards. “At first, I didn’t see the baby and then the woman took the baby out of the sweatshirt that the baby was wrapped in.”
Officer Richards hopped in a cruiser driven by Officer Alberto Nunes, and drove to the hospital. Officer Richards continued to give the little girl CPR while Officer Nunes drove quickly and safely.
The chest compressions went on for minutes, and then both officers heard the sound they wanted to hear -- the baby started to breathe again.
At that point, Officer Richards continued working on the little girl with his trained skills and words of encouragement.
Officer Nunes pulled up at the hospital and Officer Richards, still cradling the newborn, took her into the emergency room.
Newark Transit Police say the girl is currently doing well, and gave a big thumbs up to their officers for saving a life.
Officer Richards has been an EMT for about 12 years, and both officers have kids of their own. The mom was also taken to the hospital and is being treated. There is no further word on her situation.
