Two killed in Wanaque crash that delayed school start

The crash happened in front of Haskell Elementary School, prompting police to close the road from 8:30 p.m. until 5 a.m. Monday.

A crash in Wanaque Sunday night left two men dead and caused a 90-minute delay for two local schools.

It happened on Ringwood Avenue in front of Haskell Elementary School, where police closed the road from 8:30 p.m. until 5 a.m. Monday.

Four vehicles were involved: a Honda Accord, Lexus GS-350, Subaru Legacy, and BMW 2. The driver of the Honda Accord, a 26-year-old man from Wanaque, and the driver of the Lexus GS-350, a 63-year-old man from New York, New York, were pronounced dead.

Both Haskell Elementary and Wanaque Elementary opened on a delayed schedule.

The Passaic County Prosecutor’s Office is asking anyone with information to call 1-877-370-PCPO.
