Dozens of dedicated volunteers are braving extreme heat in Asbury Park this afternoon to help clean up the local environment.

The event is being hosted by the Surfrider Foundation, a non-profit organization dedicated to a mission of protecting the ocean, waves, and beaches.

Large-scale beach clean-up days serve as one of the primary ways the foundation actively fulfills that mission.

News 12 reporter Jim Murdoch was in Asbury Park, checking out the cleanup efforts as volunteers work through the high temperatures to keep the coastline clean.
